Published in San Jose by a now defunct publisher, this is the only comprehensive history of the city of San Jose written in recent times. Arbuckle was the honorary city historian, and founder of the San Jose Historical Museum (now History San Jose), and his book was sourced from many of the city's records held in local repositories.
